Christmas Day outfit- The follow up

A quick follow up of my Christmas Day attire. As I hoped, my hubs did buy me the sequin Topshop jacket so I was able to sparkle it up for our Christmas dinner.

I was worried that it would be a bit much for the pub but when I put my jeans and boots on it felt a lot less "game show host".

Get the look

I have just realised that the jacket has sold out since it went in the sale yesterday (grrr!) but check out my previous post for more sequin jackets.

Jacket- Topshop • Cami- Topshop • Jeans- Zara • Boots- Office sale.

So there you have it, a good look for any more parties you maybe attending before the year is out.

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas with your families and friends.

Christmas Day- Fancy Jackets

I know the big day is creeping up on us so I'm cutting it a bit fine with post but I've had a sudden change of heart regarding my Christmas Day outfit.

So, for the passed few years we've gone with the whole Christmas jumper thing which is lovely but I'm finding myself drawn to sequins this year and so I thought I'd go all out and go for a sequin jacket (I'm not usually a sparkly person at all). I've put one on my Christmas list so whether I receive it or not is another thing, I may actually be going for the Xmas jumper after all ;)

Images via Pinterest.

I love the look with a cami or basic tee and jeans. Very casual but with the sequins to add glamour/edge.

Here are a few options.

Top left- Topshop • Top right- ASOS • Bottom left- Very • Bottom right- Monsoon

The Topshop number is the particular one on my Christmas list so fingers crossed. Also a great look for New year too or any other Xmas parties/get togethers so not totally wasted on Christmas Day.

Thanks for reading- hope you're enjoying the run up :)

Outfits of the weekend

A quick post of the outfits I wore at the weekend. Friday night I went to watch the Bootleg Beatles with the hubs which was to be our Christmas "date night" so I decided to go a little dressy.

I recently did a party dresses post- check it out here. But I failed to mention this one. I love a bit of green at Christmas especially, very seasonal!

It's such a great dress. Perfect fit and style. I wore it with a camel coat which plays off the green a treat. Hairstyle was very much a throw everything on top of your head and pin it into place, one of those hairstyles I will never get right again.

Get the look

Dress- Topshop • Coat- Missguided Premium at ASOS • Boots- Office • Bag- Dorothy Perkins
Tights available at M&S

Secondly, on Sunday we went to visit Santa at Winter Wonderland in Telford and it was a very cold and drizzley day so it called for layers.

Jumper with shirt underneath although you can't see it and boyfriend coat. Fedora to keep the drizzle off the hair and face.

Get the look

Most of my outfit is old but here are some similar pieces.

Coat- Dorothy Perkins • Jumper- ASOS • Bag- Warehouse at ASOS • Boots (exact)- Tk Maxx

Simple, warm and stylish.

Last minute gift guide

So how many of you are sorted for Christmas? Not completely sorted I suspect as who is ever at one week before Christmas?! Still so much to do and so much to get so I have put together a little last minute Christmas gift guide for men and women so here goes....

For her

Some pretty "essential" Christmas gifts here. I don't know about you but I class a new pair of pyjamas on Christmas Day VERY essential ;) along with the obligatory perfume of course. If you're not sure which perfume the recipient wears, Marc Jacobs is always a winner if not only for the smell but the pretty bottles. This Kate Spade books looks delightful, I'm hoping to be getting this- that's if my husband will read my blog (for once). Lastly, Ahh the teapot, this is what I like to call the "Teapot of dreams" so Art Deco. I'm not exactly the tea drinker I once was, I'm on the hard stuff now (coffee- blame the kids) but I'm willing to start again for this teapot :)

Pyjamas- Topshop • Marc Jacobs Daisy- Boots • Kate Spade book- Amazon • Teapot- House of Fraser (tea cups also available here

Another Kate Spade delight here about being a fabulous hostess. Burgundy adidas gazelles (also on my list) loving them for a casual look and adding a bit of colour. Chanel lippy, well just because, you can't go wrong with a bit of Chanel as a gift. Tan and suede Is very big right now and what a great way to work it with a pair of gloves at such a great price.

Kate Spade book- Amazon • Trainers- Office • Lipstick- John Lewis • Gloves- Dorothy Perkins

Scarf- Topshop • Mug- M&S • Real Technique brushes- Boots • Diary- John Lewis

Chloe sevigny book- ASOS • Slippers- Dorothy Perkins • Candle- M&S • Notebook- Topshop

I have the Pom Pom slippers myself, for £6 I couldn't say no.

Lastly, we all like a bit of jewellery as a gift and necklaces are always good. Check these lovely ones out.

Top left- Topshop • Top right- ASOS • Bottom left- Follow the cult • Bottom right- Accessorize

For Him

I personally find my husband very difficult to buy for as he pretty much has everything and what do you buy a man who has everything? These things may help..

Jumper- Next • Beard grooming kit- Not on the high street • Slippers- M&S • Jamie Oliver book- Waterstones

Another jumper because You can't go wrong with jumpers for men at Christmas really. Aftershave is another safe present but also something men always need, Creed is my husbands particular favourite, it's a little more pricey than the others but it is an amazing, lost lasting smell, I can vouch for that as my hubbys smell is one of his 'things'.

Jumper- Next • Aftershave- Very • Bag- ASOS • GQ magazine subscription- here

Not sure if I have mentioned this before but my husband is a sneaker head so I had him approve these Nikes before I posted them so all the more reason to buy them ;)

Jacket- River Island at ASOS • Hat- Next • Trainers- Nike at ASOS • Book- ASOS

Lastly, for the kids, I spotted this beautiful book in Waterstones at the weekend and fell in love with the illustration. It looks like a fab book and is apparently a best seller.  It's called 'The Fox and the Star' and it looks amazing. I was gutted I didn't get it so will be picking one up for my boys ASAP.
Available here at Waterstones

So there we have it, some last minute gift inspiration if you were a little stuck. Sorry I have been a little absent, I have struggled for time with all the Christmas goings on but as I'm pretty sorted, so regular blogging will resume.

Thanks for reading. Have a great week!

Recent Purchases

A bit of a quick post about some lovely purchases I've have made recently (that aren't Christmas presents).
I'm very aware that it's probably not the best time of year to be buying things for ourselves but you can always stick them on your gift list :)

So as I've posted about this coat 287456 times I am pleased to say that I now actually own it *wooohooooo!* yes I got it in the Black Friday sale with almost £30 off- *double woohoooo!*

As I suspected, I LOVE it! It can be worn very casually like so or very glam as I expect to wear it on Friday night on a Christmas date night with the hubs (yes, pics will follow).
Unfortunately it's back up to normal price now but still worth it in my opinion. From Mango

Secondly, I bought more jumpers. Yep I'm a Jumper-a-Holic.

I got this fluffy high neck jumper from Zara as I just felt it was so me with its boxy fit and I needed cream fluffy jumper ;) it fits great.
Wearing it here with: Jeans- Zara • Shoes- Zara • Bag- Topshop (no longer available) • Hat- Topshop (old but here's a similar one).

Also from Zara I spotted this on one of my favourite bloggers, the super stylish Alexandra of TheFrugality. The bell sleeves are fab and she made it look so great so I had to have it and as I imagined I really like it!

For my boys

And of course I've bought my boys something too well aside from mountains of wrestling and Marvel stuff for Christmas. I'm talking cute stuff that they're not the least bit interested in ;)

New Pj's and moccasin slippers. Seriously, how cute are the slippers?! I needed to get them some new pyjamas as every year I do an annual Christmas photo which I put in a card a send to my family so these were very necessary. The slippers, however, were purely for my own happiness but at a fiver each how could you not? From George at Asda. Thank you Asda. Pyjamas from Next. Holly leaf is ones own which I snipped from the garden after realising we have a holly tree- that'll do nicely for some of my pics thank you very much :)

I'm saving the slippers for Christmas Eve parcels but the Pj's are in full use, here is the Christmas photo itself.

Don't they look cute. Merry Christmas!

Thanks for reading, hope you're having a great week!

The party dress edit

I know I have left it a little late for this post as the party season has well and truly commenced so apologies for that and I'm hoping that my selection of dresses will make up for it.

So many to choose from, it's been a tough old decision but I managed it. Here are my top picks.

The Christmas party season very much calls for sparkle, sequins, embellishment so kicking it off with these beauties.

Top left- Warehouse • Top right- Warehouse • Bottom left- French connection • Bottom right- ASOS

Bar the ASOS dress (which I love- great sleeve game) these dresses are very on point for party season. Especially loving the French connection dress with the different colours and chevron pattern- gorgeous with some fiercely pointed court shoes or strappy sandals.

Top left- ASOS • Top right- New Look • Bottom left- H&M • Bottom right- Zara

Now I'm not usually a fan of the body con, not since I had my second baby anyway, my stomach isn't exactly bodycon friendly but I believe with a good pair of Spanx it could be possible and for £19.99 I am willing to try this New look number. Also loving the red H&M. velvet and red is a real party winner and great if you're feeling a sexy look- very Jessica Rabbit :)

Top left- Miss Selfridge at Very • Top right- Topshop • Bottom left- Warehouse • Bottom right- H&M

Showing a bit of back is always good if, like me, you're a bit weird about showing your arms. Just have to make sure my husband has fake tanned my back first- pale girl problems!

Top left- Lipsy at ASOS • Top right- Zara • Bottom left- Topshop • Bottom right- Topshop

Last but not least is this stunning navy velvet dress from Reiss. I've talked about how sequins and embellishment are key for the festive season but also velvet is so
On trend right now. Check out my post on all this soft and velvety here if you haven't already.

So that's a run down of my top dress picks. Picking the perfect party dress can be a bit of an ordeal so I hope I've helped in some way. Some great dresses there for cocktails and table dancing ;)

Have a great weekend!

Christmas home

A little post and some bits and bobs for the Christmas home. I'm guessing most of us have got our trees up now so this is more about cute and festive pieces to add a little more Christmas feel to our homes.

I'm loving all of the supermarket home sections this Christmas, In particular Asda have some great things.

Circus lights are a very big thing in the home world at the minute and this one is fab at a mere £12- total barg! Also Scandinavian Christmas is something I'm loving and this fleece throw is perfect if you're going for that theme. All available in store as I couldn't find it online.

Here are some of my other top picks from some of my favourite home stores.
